Wearing some flowers in my hair…

Dutch summers seem to be about singing swimming in the rain these days…
After longing for some sun for so many weeks finally Mr Rockstar and me are of for better weather: California here we come!

PS1 While I am in San Francisco I will be meeting up with textile superstar Kathryn Clark. How exciting to meet an online buddy in real life!

PS2 If ANYbody knows ANY creative solution to those ugly plastics preventing viewing please let me know!

Update:

After having stayed in an absolutely adorable hippy appartment in Frisco (♥ AirBnB!) we are now on the road to greener pastures. Looking for some great campsite to stick around at… I hope to overwhelm you with stunning pictures when I get back!

Exhibition: Gulliver’s Collections, opening today!

Feel like an opening party? Feel like an actual Giant Party? With a Giant Collection of Collections? In a Giant Hall of a Giant Exhibition Center? Then you’re invited!

Today the massive exhibition Gulliver’s Collections will be opening at the ‘Jaarbeurs’ in Utrecht. Pet van de Luijtgaarden and his collections have done it again. This time in an even bigger venue than ever before. Pet wants to show us the absurdity of the multitude of things in our society, he asks himself: why do people need all this stuff?

My lamp of sunglasses will be included again!

Personalized wedding portrait: A New York Love Affair

A fantastic commission for a personalized wedding portrait reached me a little while ago. A group of guys wanted to surprise a friend of theirs that was getting married. The concerning husband and wife to be were huge New York (and America) lovers and they had wanted a portrait of NY for a while to adorn their new home. The guys asked me to combine a portrait of the couple with a portrait of New York, including their favourite colour: purple.

It had been ages ago since I did a project like this one (and ages ago since I had to be so supersupersecretive about something, not my best quality ;)), but I think I succeeded quite well. I printed it at my favorite printer in Utrecht, Verhoeff: a giclée print on Hahnemühle paper, which I adore. I love working on private commisions like this one. The personal connection, making a nice couple happy with your work, the idea that it will be looked at with happy memories every day…
